Prison Bus Crashes into Train in Texas, Leaving 10 Dead

On Wednesday, January 14, a prison bus lost control on an icy road and swerved down an embankment, crashing into the middle of a moving train just outside of Odessa. The bus was transporting prisoners from Abilene to El Paso at the time of the crash.

Fatalities came to eight inmates and two correctional officers (10 total), and three inmates, one correctional officer, and one staff member were taken to the hospital. As of January 15, the correctional officer remains in critical condition and the staff member is in serious condition. Two of the prisoners are in critical condition and one is in serious condition.
